ST. PAUL’S THRIFT SHOP
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Please consider supporting this great community effort!
Program Description: The St. Paul’s Thrift Shop relies on donations from the community to build an inventory of high-quality used clothing and household items that are sold at bargain prices. All proceeds raised at the St. Paul’s Thrift Shop help fund the church and a variety of charitable causes in our community and beyond.
Volunteer Hours: Monday through Saturday – hours may vary depending on tasks assigned.
Volunteers typically work 3-to-4-hour shifts and may choose more than one shift per week if they wish. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of four (4) months volunteer service to allow for adequate training and familiarization.
The constant flow of donations makes the Thrift Shop a busy and exciting place to volunteer. Most volunteers find their own niche at the shop, be it sorting clothes, displaying items, marking housewares, helping at the register or keeping the shop appearance appealing to our customers. The tasks assigned at the shop can vary from moment to moment. On–site volunteer training will be provided.
Responsibilities include:
-
To assist donors with their donations
-
To assist customers with their purchases as needed
-
To assist the cashier with bagging as needed
-
To assess and sort donations for quality and salability
-
To help keep the shop (inside and out) clean and organized
-
To work with staff and volunteers to accomplish all of the above
Volunteers at the Thrift Shop work closely with each other as well as with customers and donors. Volunteers must be compassionate, patient, discreet, and possess a friendly manner. A sense of humor is mandatory! Please contact (410) 489-4411 if you have questions or an interest in volunteering.
